Green Procurement and Eco-Labels Workshop
Thursday, June 7
10:00am-12:00pm
$30/person

What is environmentally preferable purchasing (EPP) and why is it important? Find out by joining Stacey Foreman, Sustainable Procurement Coordinator for the City of Portland, for a pre-conference workshop Thursday, June 7, 10am-12pm.

You’ll leave this educational workshop armed with the knowledge of how to put an EPP policy and specs together, how to track green purchases and their environmental benefits, and what resources are available to make EPP easier.

The workshop will focus on product categories that have recycling/waste prevention considerations, and will include case studies of state and local government EPP efforts. Additionally, you’ll learn about the wide variety of eco-labels, the role they play in EPP, and tips to avoid getting “greenwashed.”

To register for the Green Procurement Workshop, sign up on your registration form.

Fun Activities

Cave Exploration
Thursday, June 7
8:45am–12:15pm
$55/person

8:45am  Depart Seventh Mountain Resort for some cave exploration before the conference begins.

9:15am  Scattered around the sage-covered High Desert lie ancient caves, buried by the volcanic upheavals in centuries known to past peoples. We’ll discover the hidden underground world of these large, cool caverns in a way that’s safe and fascinating! Leading very small groups with headlamps for all, guides will provide in-depth interpretation on the formation of the lava tubes, the wildlife habitat inside the caves, and the many uses of the caves over time from Native American dwellings to cold storage for early Bend residents. Central Oregon’s caves are delicate ecosystems that few have experienced in this way.

12:15pm   Return to the resort.

Note: The caves are cool, so wear layers, including long pants and jackets. Wear closed-toe shoes. A water bottle is good to have as well as a camera.

Cost: $55/person. Includes transportation, guide, helmet, and headlamps.

Canoeing the High Cascade Lakes
Saturday, June 9
2:30pm–6:00pm
$55/person

2:30pm  Depart Bend for a trip into the heart of the Cascade Mountain Range.

3:00pm  Put in our canoes on Hosmer Lake, a stunning marsh-lined lake which provides habitat for waterfowl, otters, and eagles. Our paddle will take us across glassy waters to the north end of the lake to experience the solitude of the forest and Quinn Creek.

5:15pm  Pull our boats off the lake and head back to Bend.

6:00pm  Arrive at Seventh Mountain Resort.

Cost: $55/person. Includes transportation, guide, canoes, and gear.

Starlight Canoe Journey
Saturday, June 9
8:00pm–Midnight
$65/person

8:00pm  Depart Seventh Mountain Resort under the glowing light of a sinking sun.

8:30pm  Arrive at one of our high Cascade lakes in the heart of the Cascade Range, drop in the canoes, and away we go for an absolutely serene and stunning paddle. An incredible reality about our earth is that it is rarely dark outside. Even at night in the remoteness of the Cascade Range, the stars punctuate the darkness providing nice illumination, particularly on a lake surface! During our journey we’ll pull out and share dessert and a hot drink with everyone while the night sky unfurls.

12:00am  Return to Bend

Cost: $65 per person. Includes transportation, guide, canoes, dessert, and hot drink.

To register for the Cave Exploration, Canoeing the High Cascade Lakes, or the Starlight Canoe Journey, call Wanderlust Tours at 800-962-2862 and mention you are with AOR to get the special rate.
