Conference > Elections
Board elections will take place at our annual meeting at Sustainable
Oregon 2013 during the lunch hour on Friday,
June 7. This year we have four positions up for election: Education Chair,
Legislative Chair, Markets Chair, and Treasurer.
How to Run for a Board Position
If you’d like to be considered for one of these positions, please
submit a short bio, including why you’d like to be on the board,
and a picture to Amy Roth, AOR’s Resource Director, or call 503-233-3056 with questions.
Nominations received by April 15 will be featured in the spring
quarterly newsletter. Candidates can throw their hat into the ring up until the annual meeting when we’ll
take a call for nominations from the floor. Candidates will have the opportunity to address the membership at the conference before the elections.
To be eligible to be a member of the Board, you must either be an individual member or an organizational
member’s primary representative or alternate. As currently practiced by AOR, the first two names listed in the
directory are the primary representative and alternate. If someone from a member organization chooses to
run for office, the organization’s primary representative must notify Amy Roth, AOR’s Resource Director, to name them
a primary representative or alternate. This ensures the candidate for an office has the support of the group or
corporation. Of course, individual memberships are encouraged for all those working in large government
or corporate office.
How Voting Works
All AOR members whose dues are current may vote. Corporate, nonprofit, association, and government members receive two ballots; individual members receive one ballot. Student and senior members are not eligible to vote. If your dues are not current, you or your organization’s designee must make payment to AOR staff at the AOR booth in the exhibit hall no later than 11am on Friday, June 7 to receive your ballots.
If you are unable to attend the conference and are eligible to vote, you may submit a proxy ballot. The proxy ballot must be signed by you (if an individual member) or your primary representative (if an organization member). An organization’s primary representative is the first name listed in AOR’s member directory. Email elections@aorr.org or call 503-233-3056 to request a proxy ballot or if you have questions. Proxy ballots must be submitted to this email address no later than 5:00pm Thursday, June 6. You can also send your signed proxy ballot to the conference with another member who is authorized—in writing—to pick up your ballot.
