Business Recycling Awards Group (BRAG) (http://www.bragaward.org)
The Business Recycling Awards Group is a program to recognize businesses in NW Oregon and SW Washington that are doing an outstanding job of reducing waste, recycling and buying recycled products. BRAG's goal is to celebrate businesses that are working to conserve natural resources and promote them as models that other businesses may emulate.

An innovative recycling and reuse center operating at the Manzanita Transfer Station — aka "The Dump" — since December, 1998. The 501(c)3 non-profit community organization runs the transfer station as a franchise from Tillamook County and has a free recycling drop-off center. CART'M also has a booming resale store specializing in construction materials, but including everything from books to toys to household items and furniture. These items are rescued from dump loads or brought into the center by community members (the nearest other thrift stores are 25 miles north or south). Besides providing a vital reuse component to the operation, the store is making it possible for the center to survive financially.

The Master Recycler Program is a region-wide program that offers training and outreach on waste prevention and recycling to Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington county residents. Interested residents can become certified Master Recyclers by participating in the program’s 30-hour waste prevention and recycling training. In addition, graduates commit to undertake 30 hours of volunteer outreach. Over 400 people have participated in the program, volunteering more than 7,000 hours of waste prevention outreach and education in the Metro area.
