Environmental Practices chosen to manage AOR
After a lengthy process of reviewing proposals and
interviewing the top applicants, the AOR Board has approved the selection of
Environmental Practices, LLC to provide resource and support services for the
organization. The team members who are set to serve AOR’s needs are Betty
Patton, Resource Director; Richard Lee-Berman, computer and bookkeeping
services; and Ann Sihler, newsletter, writing and desktop publishing.
The team will begin working with Charlotte Becker and Howard
Huntley, Becker Projects, Inc., on April 1 with the transition to be complete by
June 30. Charlotte and Howard will continue with AOR through the end of June.
Environmental Practices brings a set of skills to AOR that
will greatly benefit the organization. Betty has 16 years in the solid waste and
recycling industry. As an added bonus, she has served as a conference committee
volunteer and a member of the board.
Richard has 25 years in software development and systems
analysis and will help beef up AOR’s presence on the Internet through the Web
site and the listserv. He is also experienced in database development and
management and computer hardware and software trouble-shooting.
Ann Sihler is a freelance writer with 15 years of experience
in technical writing and editing and newsletter creation. She has written and
edited articles and technical materials for CH2M Hill, the Hollywood Star,
Portland Alliance and Women’s Journal.
We expect the transition to go smoothly, even seamlessly.
Software compatibility has been established, and the team is already setting up
a new post office box and storage arrangements for the move. To make the
transition as easy as possible for you, our members, we’ll update you quickly on
changes to the mailing address and phone number, both of which will be in
Portland. AOR will continue to have its own dedicated phone line.
And we expect AOR’s Web address to remain the same, so you
may go there for the latest updates if you have a question that needs an
immediate answer, www.aorr.org.
With this decision, we’ve ensured that the membership will
receive the same quality service and thoughtfulness the Becker Projects team has
provided for the past 15 years. While it is extremely difficult to say farewell
to Charlotte and Howard, they’ve set the stage for AOR’s continued advocacy and
education. The Board of Directors is looking forward to maximizing the skills of
the Environmental Practices team.
